Lawyers are struggling with advertising for decades. Advertising can be expensive and frustrating. One of the aspects is the annoying problem of measuring how effective your advertising, and thus how to determine if you are coming your costs. The Web offers a variety of new advertising opportunities. It also offers the prospect of a better measurement. You never know how many people your ad on TV, radio or newspaper saw. On the Web, with theright tools, you can know not only how many people came to your site, but an enormous amount of additional details.
With all that in mind, here are three tips for lawyers on the Internet:
1. Create at least a minimal web presence in its own name
Have all potential customers, some of them will build on the Internet. The best way to control what they see on you through building your own website in your own name. If your name is Joe, lawyer, if you can getjoelawyer.com, and make sure the page is talking about Joe Lawyer. If you have a common name like John Smith, will be difficult, but you can still have a site about John Smith, a lawyer in Topeka, Kansas, and it probably makes it more and more people see when they search for you, your location.
If you do not, potential customers can find things about you, you do not want to see. Some time ago I contacted a lawyer. I saw him and the first thing I found was adisclipinary proceedings against him in another state. Most of us, this problem is not, but it could still sites where people complain about you, or just pages that use very little to say about you. With a good web presence, people you can find what you read on, you want to search.
You do not have to have a 50-page website. At least build a simple page or blog. Google offers free Web pages to Google Page Creator and Blogger blogs are free available. There are many other possibilities.
2. Follow the ethical rules
There are many websites out there that are not ethical to the rules. You will never have enough money on the internet one, the consequences of the ethics allegations against you. Make sure you know your state ethical rules regarding lawyer web activities, and follow them. This applies not only to their own Web presence, but also appear around your ads.
3. Do not fall for advertising revenuePlots
I get asked all the time from people who say that their sites are generating business for me. At least 90 percent of them are terrible. Many against the ethical rules. Others receive little traffic and very little business to generate. Some do not make guarantees to enforce. It is very difficult to know which side actually generate business for you.
There are things you can do to deal with it. First, ask them to get over how much traffic to their websites. But do not just take theirWord for it. Make them show you.
I sell advertising for lawyers on our Web site traffic court. When I show them how much traffic is a particular community, I run a report from Google Analytics. This shows a tremendous amount of detail. If I can provide the level of detail available, they should do so as well. Will show the truth is that they can show you that level of detail, and they do not, because, as some companies you get.
If they refuse to guarantee that theInformation is an alternative - the emphasis on a free month. I also offer that lawyers are interested in advertising on our website. I do it because I know what I am offering is worth the money (I am a provider on the website as well), and I know the best way to show someone, giving them a foretaste. I hope that the advertiser will remain up for years. The cost to me is neglect of the free month.
Think about it. If they do not provide you with verifiable data, and they will notYou a free trial months, then it means that they do not really want to believe what they sell.
